The Diana Model 48 Black Professional in .177 cal is a side lever single shot spring piston air rifle.With claimed velocities at 1150 feet per second this airgun has a flat trajectory and plenty of energy for hunting pest birds and head shooting game like rabbits.To load the gun you pull the lever on the right side of the rifle all the way back until you hear a final click. To stop you from injuring yourself there are a set of teeth at the bottom of the action which catch the action and prevent the spring and action slamming shut. Once you fully cock the action you load the pellet in the chamber and depress a button the left of the action with your left thumb which enables you to slide the action closed and you are loaded with the automatic safety preventing you from accidently firing the pellet before you are ready.Seeing as this is such a high powered spring piston air rifle designed for adults you do require some strength to cock it, that said with proper technique it becomes easy and fast to cock and it is not bad at all once you get use to it. With any spring piston gun whether they be break barrel, side lever or under lever you will fatigue after a while, once again this is a characteristic of all spring piston air rifles.
